Chairman and Managing Director, Tractors India Private Limited (TIPL) – Caterpillar Dealer, 24th June 2016 – till Date

After working for nearly 30 months as Managing Director and CEO of Tractors India Private Limited (TIPL), he completed the Management buy-out of the Company and started my entrepreneurial journey as the new Chairman & Managing Director of TIPL. Post transition of TIPL, Caterpillar has appointed him as the Dealer Principal for North and East of India, Nepal and Bhutan.

He joined as Managing Director and CEO of TIPL on 1st January 2014. TIPL is one of the oldest Caterpillar dealerships serving construction, energy and transport and mining sector customers in the north and east of India since 1944. With 17,000 customers spread over 1.7 million sq. km area, TIPL has a gross revenue of close to US$ 220 million (2015) and is moving on a strong growth trajectory in sync with India’s solid growth momentum. TIPL has registered a 44% growth in topline and quadrupling of profitability of the company during last 24 months. Both topline and bottomline numbers are benchmarks in this dealership’s 72 year history.

As Director on the Board of Bharat Forge Limited (BFL), a $1.3 bn Indian MNC with trans-continental presence across Asia, Europe and the US, he spearheaded Company’s major foray into capital goods and infrastructure sectors since February 2008 with power, transport, oil and gas, defence, mining and infrastructure verticals as the focus areas and developed nearly US$ 1.4 billion worth of new business potential for the company including various joint ventures.

As an IAS officer, he worked for about 10 years (1988-1999) in the State of West Bengal in various capacities like District Collector, Commissioner, Joint Secretary to the State Government, etc. Subsequently, he worked in Government of India (1999-2008) in various Ministries including the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Railways and the Ministry of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises. During this period, he represented Government of India at various international fora and was intensively involved in policy formulation and implementation in automotive and heavy industries sectors.

Practiced as professional Chartered Accountant for two years as partner of an eminent company during which he gained experience of financial, management and cost audit, accounts, management consultancy, business and financial restructuring of a large number of corporate bodies in private and public sector.

During this period, he also got a close exposure to the functioning of a number of State Owned enterprises in steel, tourism, banking and finance, manufacturing and electronics sectors.
